What would happen to the Bitcoin network if the whole world suddenly lost power?
Michael Saylor, the founder of MicroStrategy and a notorious Bitcoin hoarder, recently talked about this topic, and his answer is quite interesting: Bitcoin may be the most resilient thing created by humanity.
Why do you say that? He explained that Bitcoin runs on tens of thousands of nodes worldwide, each holding a complete ledger. Want to track it? Almost impossible. Want to destroy it? You'd have to take out all those nodes scattered around the world.
In other words, as long as there is electricity and internet on Earth, even if only a few nodes are still running, this system can restart. This is the charm of decentralized architecture - there is no single point of failure, and therefore no fatal weaknesses.
