For anyone diving into Web3 analytics, SQL is genuinely a game-changer. Whether you're tracking blockchain transactions, analyzing smart contract interactions, or monitoring on-chain metrics, SQL's query flexibility makes it the go-to tool for data analysts in crypto. The ability to slice through massive datasets efficiently? That's what separates serious analysts from casual observers. If you're building a career in Web3, mastering SQL isn't optional—it's essential.

SQL this thing, I have to divide it into three parts— **Analyzability**: Indeed, the query flexibility is maximized, and massive on-chain data can be instantly retrieved, several orders of magnitude faster than those GUI tools. The difference between serious analysts and clients or service providers lies here. **Learning Curve**: But I want to say, blowing SQL up to the level of "must master"? That's a bit much. The real bottleneck is understanding blockchain knowledge and economic models; SQL is just a tool. **Sustainability**: The key issue is—most practitioners finish learning SQL and think they can do on-chain analysis, but end up with pitfalls, unclear data sources, and flawed metric design. That’s the real reason for market clearing. Instead of mythologizing SQL, it's better to first clarify what questions you want to ask.

SQL definitely needs to be learned, but very few analysts can truly use it effectively.

SQL is really unavoidable; if you don't learn it, don't bother working with on-chain data, bro.

ngl sql is just table stakes at this point, if you're not running queries on-chain data you're basically flying blind. but like... technically speaking, most "analysts" out there are just copying dashboards without understanding correlation coefficients. that's the real gap imo
