## What is CA Up Stock? What Investors Need to Know Before Trading

### The meaning of the CA symbol appearing in stocks

When encountering strange symbols after the stock name, such as **CA, XM, XD, XN** and others, many investors wonder what these symbols mean. In fact, they indicate that a significant event is about to happen to that stock.

**CA stands for Corporate Action**, which means an action taken by the company. It indicates that a major event will occur within 7 days. Simply click to check the details, and you will see what the event is and when it will happen.

Investors can categorize the symbols at the end of stocks into 3 main groups based on their type and purpose.

---

### Group 1: X Symbol - Rights Not Received

This type of symbol starts with the letter X, which stands for "Excluding," meaning investors who buy the stock during this period will not receive certain privileges.

**XD - Excluding Dividend (No dividend)**

If you buy the stock when it is marked XD, you will miss the opportunity to receive dividends for this round. However, if you continue to hold the stock until the next XD date, you will be entitled to dividends in the following cycle. Dividends are profits distributed by the company to shareholders.

Eligibility for dividends depends on timely purchase—specifically, the day before the XD date. For example, if you buy on the 1st and the stock goes XD on the 2nd, you still qualify. Also, the dividend rate remains the same whether you buy before or after.

**XM - Excluding Meetings (Not attending shareholder meetings)**

Buying during the XM period means you will not have the right to attend shareholder meetings, where shareholders can participate in important decision-making of the company, aside from delegating authority to the management.

**XW - Excluding Warrant (No warrant rights)**

A Warrant or a derivative share is a security issued by a listed company that can be converted into the main stock. Buying during XW means you will not have the right to purchase this warrant. Conversion rights are usually at a 1:1 ratio or according to the exercise price set by the company, allowing the company to raise additional funds.

**XS - Excluding Short-term Warrant (No short-term warrant rights)**

If the stock is marked XS, investors will not have the right to subscribe for short-term warrants.

**XR - Excluding Rights (No rights to subscribe for additional capital)**

When a company seeks additional funding, it often offers existing shareholders the right to subscribe for new shares first. This is a "capital increase" used to expand the business and grow. If marked XR, you will miss this subscription right.

**XT - Excluding Transferable Subscription Right (No rights to transfer subscription rights)**

A subscription right to purchase additional shares is a security issued by the company. It has the same benefits as the original shares but can be transferred. If marked XT, you will not receive it.

**XI - Excluding Interest (No interest received)**

If the company pays interest as a return, buying during XI means you will not receive that interest.

**XP - Excluding Principal (No principal received)**

Some companies announce to pay back the principal at certain rounds. Buying during XP means you will not receive that principal.

**XA - Excluding All (No rights at all)**

This occurs when the company announces multiple rights or benefits simultaneously. Buying during XA means you will not receive any rights. You can click to see what will be announced.

**XE - Excluding Exercise (No conversion rights)**

If you buy when marked XE, you will not have the right to convert the security into the underlying stock.

**XN - Excluding Capital Return (No capital reduction refund)**

Capital reduction is a process where the company adjusts its capital, especially if it has accumulated losses for a long time. It helps reduce or eliminate losses. If marked XN, you will not receive a refund from this capital reduction.

**XB - Excluding Other Benefits (No other rights)**

This symbol applies to other privileges, such as preferred shares allocated to common shareholders, common shares allocated to preferred shareholders, or securities of affiliated companies.

### Group 2: T Symbol - Trading and Risk Warning

This type of symbol appears when stocks increase rapidly and speculation is high. The stock exchange implements measures to limit volatility, divided into 3 levels.

**T1 - Trading Alert Level 1 (Level 1 Warning)**

Stocks with T1 can only be purchased with a Cash Balance account (cash account). This symbol appears for 3 weeks after the exchange announces it.

**T2 - Trading Alert Level 2 (Level 2 Warning)**

If a T1 stock remains on the Trading Alert List after no more than 1 month from the announcement, it is elevated to T2. In this level, it must be purchased only with a Cash Balance account and cannot be used as collateral. The symbol appears for 3 weeks.

**T3 - Trading Alert Level 3 (Level 3 Warning)**

If it remains on the list after 1 month from the T2 measures, it is elevated to T3. In this level, it must be purchased only with Cash Balance, cannot be used as collateral, and short selling is prohibited (Settlement). Normally, when you sell stocks from a Cash Balance account worth 10,000 baht, your buying power returns immediately. For T3 stocks, you must wait until the next day to regain buying power. This prevents multiple trades in a single day.

Cash Balance accounts are suitable for beginner investors because they can invest as much as they have in the account, making it easier to understand and limiting trading to actual funds.

**SP - Trading Suspension (Suspended trading)**

**NP - Notice Pending (Pending notification)**

The company has information to report to the stock exchange. When completed, the symbol changes to NR.

**NR - Notice Received (Notification received)**

The stock exchange has received clarification from the company.

**NC - Non-Compliance (Non-compliance)**

The company may be delisted from the market, possibly due to prolonged losses or failure to submit financial statements. When marked NC, the company has 1 year to resolve issues.

**ST - Stabilization (Price stabilization)**

**C - Caution (Warning)**
