Apple Orders $30B in Broadcom Chips, Funds $1.5B Colorado Factory Expansion

Apple announced on Wednesday a $30 billion long-term chip supply agreement with Broadcom, effective through 2031, marking a significant expansion of U.S. semiconductor sourcing. The order focuses on FBAR (Filter Bulk Acoustic Resonator) radio frequency filter chips, which enhance wireless connectivity in iPhones and other devices by improving 5G and Wi-Fi signal transmission quality.

Broadcom will invest $1.5 billion to expand its manufacturing facility in Fort Collins, Colorado, where Apple plans to source at least 15 billion FBAR chips for its products. The initiative aligns with efforts to strengthen domestic chip supply chains and supports the Trump administration's semiconductor manufacturing onshoring policies.
