Binance Founder Zhao Calls for Single Crypto License Across ASEAN at 2026 Tech Summit

At the 2026 ASEAN Tech Summit in Manila, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao called for a common regulatory framework to support cryptocurrency operations across Southeast Asian countries. Zhao proposed a 'crypto regulatory passport' system that would allow cryptocurrency licenses obtained in any ASEAN member country to be recognized by others, enabling companies to operate regionally with a single license instead of applying separately in each jurisdiction. According to Zhao, such a system would reduce operational costs for crypto companies and accelerate digital asset sector growth in ASEAN, which has a population of approximately 700 million.
