Bitwise CIO: Interest Rate Impact on Bitcoin to Weaken Over Next Five Years as CME Expects Only 50bp Rate Hike

BTC-1.57%
CME2.03%
According to Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan, interest rate decisions will have less impact on Bitcoin over the next five years than the past 15 years, as the CME expects only a 50-basis-point rate increase in the coming year. Hougan suggested that the Federal Reserve under Warsh's leadership may adopt a more gradual adjustment approach similar to the Greenspan era in the mid-1990s, rather than the larger moves seen under Bernanke and Powell. With smaller rate fluctuations ahead, the influence on Bitcoin will diminish accordingly, allowing other factors to gain in importance.
