According to eBay's official statement, the company and several former executives agreed on July 28 to pay nearly $56 million to settle a civil case with Ina and David Steiner, a Massachusetts couple who were targets of a harassment and stalking campaign in 2019.
The settlement breaks down as $46.1 million from eBay, $2 million from former CEO Devin Wenig, $500,000 from eBay's former senior vice president of operations, and $50,000 from the former chief communications officer. The couple, who run eCommercebytes, a website popular among online sellers, had been subjected to online threats and strange deliveries as part of what their attorneys described as a "terror campaign" designed to stop their reporting on eBay.
