ESMA's MiCA Register Shows 280 CASPs But No ART Issuers Yet

According to ESMA's July 3 Markets in Crypto-Assets register update, the European Union now has 280 authorized crypto-asset service providers but zero registered asset-referenced token issuers, marking an uneven rollout of Europe's digital asset rulebook. The update added 37 newly authorized CASPs following the end of the MiCA transition period on July 1. Standard Chartered was among notable additions, receiving authorization through its Luxembourg subsidiary on June 29. The absence of ART issuers signals that stablecoin-style products remain difficult to authorize under MiCA's stricter requirements for reserves, governance and disclosure.
