Ethereum Trader Loses $2M in Same-Block Backrun Exploit by Titan

ETH-0.57%
According to GoPlus Security, on July 7 at 1:59 a.m. UTC, an Ethereum trader lost $1.99 million in a same-block backrun exploit by block builder Titan. The trader swapped 1,126.44 Ether ($2.01 million) but received only $14,500 in tokens after a decentralized exchange router directed the transaction through a low-liquidity pool, allowing Titan to extract $1.8 million in a single block. GoPlus Security distinguished the incident from a conventional sandwich attack, noting it was "a real, highly imbalanced backrunner arbitrage" with no front-running trade preceding the victim's swap. The extraction occurred entirely through same-block arbitrage after the order was routed into the illiquid pool.
