Fire Breaks Out at Japan Self-Defense Force Asaka Base on July 20

According to NHK, a fire broke out at Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Asaka base spanning Saitama's Asaka and Tokyo's Nerima ward on July 20 at around 11:30 AM JST (10:30 AM Beijing time). Initial reports indicate the fire started at a waste disposal area within the base and subsequently spread to an adjacent warehouse. Police and fire departments are investigating the cause. The Asaka base, considered the nerve center of Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force, houses the Ground Force Headquarters.
