Former LA Deputy Sheriff Convicted of Obstructing Crypto Extortion Investigation, Sentenced to 18 Months

According to The Block, on July 14, former Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff Scott Simpkins was sentenced to 18 months in prison for obstructing an FBI investigation into imprisoned crypto businessman Adam Iza. Prosecutors stated that Simpkins witnessed Iza threatening a victim and extorting a $25,000 bank transfer in 2021 but made false denials during the investigation.
