Hoban Construction Increases Stake in Hanjin Kal to 20.15%, Narrows Gap with Chairman to 0.42%

According to South Korea's Financial Supervisory Service, Hoban Construction raised its stake in Hanjin Kal to 20.15% on July 10 through open market purchases, acquiring an additional 1,132,900 shares. The stake increase reduced the ownership gap between Hoban and Hanjin Group Chairman Cho Won-tae from 1.78% as of end-2025 to just 0.42%, reigniting concerns about potential management rights disputes. Hoban maintained that the purchase reflects confidence in the aviation industry's growth prospects and stated it remains a pure investment with no plans for strategic involvement.
