Maharashtra Proposes DELTA Act to Tokenize Real Estate via Blockchain

According to ChainCatcher, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently announced that the state is advancing the Digital Elevation and Tokenization of Land Assets Act (DELTA Act) to enable blockchain-based real estate tokenization. Fadnavis has directed officials to study global legal frameworks and best practices, and established an expert committee comprising representatives from SEBI, BSE, NSE, and industry professionals to develop a comprehensive legislative framework. Under the proposed act, real estate assets will be tokenized on blockchain with all transactions completed on-chain. The initiative aims to unlock real estate value and create new revenue streams, supporting Maharashtra's goal of achieving a one trillion dollar GDP by 2030. If enacted, Maharashtra would become India's first state to introduce such legislation.
