According to ChainCatcher, Ondo Finance launched Ondo Network on July 27, a new execution layer designed to deliver centralized exchange-level trading speed while maintaining blockchain self-custody and verifiable settlement. The company pivoted from its original Ondo Chain plan to focus exclusively on the execution layer architecture. CEO Ian De Bode noted that user feedback from developing Ondo Perps perpetual futures revealed the market's core bottleneck was trading execution efficiency, not asset settlement.
Ondo Perps became the first application built on Ondo Network, supporting 24-hour trading of stock and commodity perpetual contracts with tokenized real-world assets as collateral. The network employs a segregated architecture separating execution, validation, and settlement layers, using secure hardware isolation to enhance trading speed while preserving permissionless blockchain properties and user asset self-custody.
