According to Optimism's governance forum disclosure, the Layer 2 network patched a critical vulnerability in its SDM verify path that could accept forged refund payloads without recomputation before the Lagoon upgrade reached production. The issue in the verification system could have allowed attackers to make the protocol recognize unauthorized refund claims if left unresolved. Optimism said the vulnerability was fixed before any production chain exploitation occurred, and no funds were lost.
