Peak XV Leads $135M Funding Round for Alpaca Crypto Brokerage Infrastructure

According to CoinDesk, on July 16, Alpaca, a US-based crypto brokerage infrastructure company, raised $135 million in an equity round led by Peak XV, with participation from Elefund, BNP Paribas' Opera Tech Ventures, and Unbound. The funding will support infrastructure enabling exchanges and tokenization platforms to offer US stocks on-chain.

Alpaca is registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, holds membership in the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, and operates as a self-clearing broker-dealer. The company currently clears or holds in custody approximately 94% of tokenized US equities, with over $1.5 billion in underlying stocks backing tokenized equities on its platform.
