According to Citrini Research, Qualcomm aims to grow its data center business revenue from $300 million in 2026 to over $15 billion by fiscal 2029 through its High Bandwidth Compute (HBC) architecture designed to address AI infrastructure bottlenecks. The new architecture places compute cores directly beneath LPDDR memory, reducing data transmission distances and lowering dependency on expensive advanced packaging techniques. Microsoft has committed to deploying AI accelerators built on the HBC architecture, supporting Qualcomm's data center expansion that includes acquisitions of Alphawave ($2.3 billion in December 2025) and AI software company Modular ($3.9 billion in June 2026).
