Samsung Develops GAIA AI Accelerator Chip for PCs in 4nm Process, Samples Sent to Lenovo and HP

According to BlockBeats, Samsung's System LSI division on July 10 unveiled development of a generative AI accelerator chip codenamed GAIA designed specifically for AI PCs. Built on 4-nanometer process technology, the chip is optimized for NPU (Neural Processing Unit) architecture and positioned as a "memory-centric AI accelerator" that places computing units near memory to reduce latency and power consumption. Samsung has already provided prototype samples to Lenovo and HP for validation testing, with mass production expected to begin next year, aligning with the broader industry shift toward AI-enabled PCs.
