Senate Democrats Demand Ethics Rules in Clarity Act as Deadline Nears

On Monday, Senate Democrats led by Sen. Elizabeth Warren began demanding ethics rules barring President Trump and his family from profiting off crypto in the Clarity Act, which needs at least seven Democratic votes to pass before Congress' August recess. Warren wrote a letter urging Senate leadership to ensure the bill includes language preventing the president, vice president, senior administration officials, members of Congress, and their families from profiting off the crypto industry. On Tuesday, additional Senate Democrats including Chris Murphy and Chris Van Hollen are set to hold a press conference opposing the Clarity Act. With less than four weeks remaining before Congress' August recess, the bill faces mounting pressure to reach a vote.
