South Korea Accelerates Single-Stock Leverage ETF Curbs, Raising Minimum Deposit to 3 Million Won on July 31

According to South Korea's Financial Services Commission and Financial Supervisory Service, minimum deposit requirements for single-stock leverage ETFs will rise to 3 million won (from 1 million won) on July 31, three weeks ahead of the originally planned August 19 implementation. The regulator also banned alternative securities and margin lending proceeds from being counted toward the minimum deposit, and raised the minimum trading unit to 20 shares from one share, effective the same date. The accelerated measures aim to cool market overheating in leveraged products tracking Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
