South Korea Launches $917 Million AI Transformation Program Across Two Regions

According to Chosun Daily, South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT and National IT Industry Promotion Agency today announced a public competition for 2026 AI Transformation (AX) research and development projects. The government will invest a combined 1.4 trillion won ($917 million) over five years in Gyeongnam and Jeonbuk. Gyeongnam's project targets human-AI collaborative physical intelligence for ultra-precision manufacturing, while Jeonbuk's focuses on physical AI-based software platforms for self-operating intelligent factories.
