South Korea Seeks to Resume FTA Talks with Mercosur, Strengthen Critical Minerals Cooperation

According to Jin10, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung announced on July 26 that South Korea will push for resuming free trade agreement negotiations with the Mercosur trade bloc and strengthen cooperation in the critical minerals sector.

Lee noted that Mercosur member nations possess abundant agricultural, energy, and critical mineral resources, while South Korea has global competitiveness in advanced manufacturing, digital technology, shipbuilding, and battery industries. He emphasized that the partnership can establish stable and resilient supply chains that benefit both regions.
