South Korean Won Closes at 1,530 per Dollar on July 7, Rising 4.40 Won in First 24-Hour Trading Session

According to Yonhap Infomax, the Korean won closed at 1,530.00 per US dollar on July 7, up 4.40 won from July 3's 3:30 PM closing level of 1,525.60 won, as Seoul's forex market opened 24 hours continuously for the first time. The won had initially surged to a session high of 1,537.50 won on settlement demand-driven buying, but gains were gradually capped by weakened custody-linked buying following foreign investors' net stock sales and authorities' smoothing operations (micro-adjustments).
