Taiwan Detains Nvidia Employee Over Suspected AI Chip Smuggling to China

According to Bloomberg, Taiwan prosecutors detained a Nvidia employee and searched the company's office, marking the government's first legal action against the chipmaker. The move is part of an expanding investigation into alleged smuggling of AI accelerators to China. In May, Taiwan officials arrested employees from Super Micro Computer, an AI server distributor, and a data center operator, who were accused of forging documents to evade U.S. export controls and illegally ship Nvidia AI chips to China.
