Trans Mountain Reaches Settlement With Shippers on Fee Dispute After 18 Months

Trans Mountain, the government-owned Canadian pipeline operator, reached a settlement on Tuesday with oil shippers over a longstanding fee dispute. The company will submit the agreement to Canada's energy regulator for approval; the deal covers the majority of its contracted shipping volume. As part of the settlement, Trans Mountain is seeking to increase its contracted capacity share from 80% to 90%, which would reduce the portion reserved for spot market shipments from 20% to 10%.
