United Airlines Beats Q2 Revenue at $17.67B but Guidance Disappoints as Fuel Costs Surge

According to CNBC, on July 15 (local time), United Airlines reported Q2 revenue of $17.67 billion, surpassing Wall Street expectations of $17.61 billion. However, net income fell 17% year-over-year to $805 million, and adjusted earnings per share came in at $1.99, topping the consensus forecast of $1.88.

The airline attributed weakness to soaring jet fuel costs, which jumped 84% year-over-year to $2.3 billion in Q2. United projects full-year fuel expenses will exceed initial guidance by approximately $6 billion. For Q3, the company forecasted adjusted EPS of $2.50–$3.50, missing analyst expectations of $3.60. Shares fell 2% in after-hours trading.
