U.S. Department of Justice Plans to Dismiss $722M BitClub Network Fraud Charges

According to Bloomberg, the U.S. Department of Justice plans to dismiss charges against BitClub Network founder Matthew Goettsche, related to a $722 million cryptocurrency fraud scheme. Goettsche's legal team notified the court on July 8 that both sides reached a "principle agreement" to resolve the pending charges. The case, filed in 2019, has dragged on for seven years, with three co-defendants already pleading guilty. The Justice Department stated the decision is unrelated to legal pressure, noting the government is working to recover funds for investors.
