U.S. Launches Fifth Consecutive Strike on Iran as Strait of Hormuz Oil Traffic Plunges to 3.9M Barrels/Day

According to Bloomberg, the U.S. launched its fifth consecutive strike on Iran early Thursday (July 16), targeting military installations and a sanctioned oil tanker near the country's main crude export terminal. Iran responded by firing missiles at U.S. bases in Kuwait and Jordan, with Jordanian authorities intercepting eight of them.

Oil transport through the Strait of Hormuz has significantly declined amid the escalating tensions. Seven-day average throughput fell from 4.6 million barrels per day to 3.9 million barrels per day, according to RBC Capital Markets data.
