According to Hyperinsight monitoring data, a whale address starting with 0xdcc opened a short position on Brent crude (BRENTOIL) on July 14 at 02:08 UTC with 18,452.29 contracts at an average price of $82.348, representing a notional value of approximately $1.52 million. The position was liquidated after just six hours when oil prices climbed to $84.4, with the whale suffering realized losses of approximately $38,100. The crude spike was driven by escalating U.S.-Iran military tensions, including Trump's announcement of a renewed maritime blockade on Iranian shipping affecting the Strait of Hormuz, which lifted Brent crude 9.59% on July 13 alone.
