According to the Islamic Republic of Iran News Agency (IRNA) on October 28, the Israel government is preparing to pass two laws prohibiting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) from carrying out activities in Gaza and the Jordan West Bank. According to Israel media, the Israel parliament will approve on Monday two bills introduced by several lawmakers that would end the Israel regime’s cooperation with UNRWA and halt its activities in the Gaza Strip, the occupied West Bank of the Jordan River and the East Al-Quds Al-Sharif. The move was met with strong opposition, and even Western supporters of Israel objected, who warned of the consequences of stopping the activities of the UN agency. The United Nations has previously said that Israel’s termination of UNRWA activities is “close to total collapse” of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. The United Nations says almost all of the population in the Gaza Strip is severely food insecure.
