On December 6th, Jin10 News reported that the Korean Ministry of Inspection and Supervision announced today that it will form a special investigation department headed by Park Se-hyeon, the chief prosecutor of the Seoul High Prosecutors’ Office, to conduct a serious investigation into the ‘12.3 Emergency Martial Law Incident’. During the Park Geun-hye administration in 2016, the Korean prosecution established a special investigation department to investigate the political scandal involving Park’s close friend Choi Soon-sil (later renamed Choi Seo-won). Korean media analysis pointed out that the Korean prosecution has established a special investigation department similar to the Park Geun-hye era, indicating its determination to conduct a concentrated investigation due to the serious nature of the emergency martial law incident.
