AI Drug Development Accelerates: 170+ AI-Designed Candidates in Clinical Stage, Anthropic Launches Claude Science

According to media reports, AI-powered drug development is advancing rapidly in H1 2026. Insilico Medicine announced its first AI-generated drug candidate entering Phase III clinical trials, while Anthropic released Claude Science for scientists and pharmaceutical companies and launched its own drug discovery initiative. The global market saw over 170 AI-designed or optimized drug candidates enter clinical stages, with more than a dozen advancing to Phase III trials.
