Bitcoin Whale Transfers $383M After Eight Years Dormant, Up 284%

According to blockchain intelligence platform Lookonchain, on July 15 at 7:15 p.m. ET, a Bitcoin wallet dormant since December 2017 transferred 5,908 BTC worth approximately $383 million to a fresh SegWit address. The wallet acquired the coins when Bitcoin traded near $16,800, giving it a cost basis of roughly $99.6 million and a current paper gain of about $283 million. On-chain records confirm the recipient address has not sent funds onward or to any known exchange deposit address.
