According to Base's announcement, Base and Optimism are implementing native account abstraction for the OP Stack, with developer testing already live on Base Vibenet and mainnet deployment planned for the Cobalt upgrade in September 2026. The upgrade centers on EIP-8130 and aims to make user accounts more flexible across OP Stack chains by supporting features such as smoother onboarding, better transaction flows, and more flexible account logic.

The feature remains in testing phase and is not yet fully available on mainnet OP chains, with broader rollout dependent on the September deployment timeline.
