China's NDRC and NEA released the Renewable Energy Development Plan for the 15th Five-Year Period (2026-2030), according to an official statement. The plan outlines major research initiatives across multiple renewable energy sectors, including development of variable-speed and ultra-high-head pumped-storage turbines, high-efficiency wind power equipment with advanced blade and floating foundation technologies, and perovskite tandem solar cells for industrial production.
Additional focus areas include green hydrogen and ammonia production technologies, thermal power generation, geothermal energy, ocean energy, and emerging renewable sources such as environmental thermal energy. The plan emphasizes acceleration of space-based solar energy technology verification and advancement of core component manufacturing capabilities.
