According to Stand With Crypto, a U.S. crypto advocacy organization with around 3 million registered advocates, supporters have contacted Congress nearly 1 million times in recent weeks as pressure mounts for passage of the CLARITY Act. The grassroots campaign gained significant momentum this week with endorsements from major financial institutions and the nation's largest police organization. Fidelity urged senators to pass the bill, citing that nationwide regulatory rules would strengthen investor confidence, while Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon also backed the legislation. The Fraternal Order of Police, representing 382,000 active and retired officers, endorsed the revised bill after changes preserved protections for criminal investigations and digital asset seizures.
No Senate floor vote has been scheduled, with supporters urging action before the August recess. Seven Senate Democrats said the latest draft by Senator Cynthia Lummis, released July 22, still falls short on ethics, consumer protection, and conflicts of interest, particularly regarding restrictions on digital asset activity by elected officials and their families.
