Dollar-Won Rises to 1,479.70 Won on July 22 Amid Middle East Tensions, Yen Weakness

According to Yonhapinfomax, on July 22, the dollar-won exchange rate rose to 1,479.70 won, up 6.3 won from the previous day's close of 1,473.40 won.

The surge was driven by escalating U.S.-Iran military tensions and the yen hitting a 40-year low. The dollar-yen rate broke above 163 for the first time since 1986, with Houthi militants from Yemen blocking the Red Sea, prompting Saudi oil tankers to redirect course.
