EU Expands 21st Sanctions Round on Russia, Targeting 14 Crypto Platforms

According to ChainCatcher, the European Union in its latest round of sanctions expanded measures against Russia to target 14 crypto-related platforms operating in Georgia, the United Arab Emirates, and Panama. The sanctions specifically focus on the A7 cross-border payment network, its newly established African affiliate, and the A7A5 stablecoin used to circumvent restrictions. The EU also introduced a tool enabling comprehensive prohibition of crypto asset services used by Russia.

Beyond digital asset measures, the EU froze assets and imposed transaction bans on 94 banks and major financial institutions, while extending transaction prohibitions to an additional 33 Russian credit and financial institutions.
