Galaxy Digital pledged up to $5 million on Tuesday to open-source developers building post-quantum cryptography for Bitcoin, according to its Bitcoin Quantum Readiness Initiative announcement. The company also established a quantum advisory council comprising Barry Sanders of the University of Calgary, Damien Bérubé of MIT, and Eran Tromer of Boston University. The grants will support quantum-resistant upgrade proposals, cryptographic research, signature schemes, and wallet migration tooling. According to analytics provider Glassnode, approximately 30% of Bitcoin's supply could be exposed if cryptographically relevant quantum computers emerge.
