Hong Kong stocks extended gains early this morning (July 10, 11:26 AM HKT), with the Hang Seng Index climbing 449 points or 1.87% to 24,479, while the National Index gained 144 points or 1.81% to 8,142 and the Tech Index rose 110 points or 2.34% to 4,842. The Hang Seng opened up 183 points before experiencing a sharp pullback to just 34 points, then surged as technology stocks led the rally.
Major tech stocks broadly advanced: Alibaba jumped 3.9% to 112.2 yuan, Baidu rose 3.3% to 118.2 yuan, Xiaomi climbed 4.1% to 26.02 yuan, and JD.com gained 3.2% to 111.1 yuan. Among blue chips, WuXi AppTec surged 7% to 159.5 yuan as the day's strongest performer, while CATL fell 2.2% to 623.5 yuan. Semiconductor stocks also gained ground with Semiconductor Manufacturing International climbing 2.5% to 85.6 yuan.
