Hong Kong stocks opened higher today following a soft U.S. close, with the Hang Seng Index up 73 points, or 0.3%, to 24,966 points. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index rose 15 points, or 0.2%, to 8,266 points, while the Tech Index gained 9 points, or 0.2%, to 4,677 points.
AIA Group was among the best performing blue chips, opening up 2% at HK$78.4. Lenovo climbed 3.2% to HK$24.88, leading gainers. Alibaba added 0.4% to HK$114.1, while Tencent edged down 0.1% to HK$440 after falling 7% yesterday. HSBC opened 1.1% higher at HK$160.6. Semiconductor stocks rallied, with China Zhenghuo opening up 1.5% at HK$74.
