Japan's 2-Year Bond Yield Hits 1.50%, Highest Since 1995, on July 23

According to Yonhapinfomax, Japan's 2-year bond yield climbed to 1.50% on July 23, marking its highest level since 1995. As of 10:48 a.m., the yield was trading at 1.4994%, up 5.20 basis points from the previous close. The 10-year yield rose 2.76 basis points to 2.7672%. The sharp increase in short-term yields reflects market expectations that the Bank of Japan may accelerate interest rate hikes amid mounting concerns over yen depreciation and inflation. The dollar-yen exchange rate reached 163.045, near its 40-year high.
