According to The Fact, Financial Services Commission Chair Lee Euk-won said on July 29 that recent market volatility resulted from multiple factors rather than single-stock leveraged ETFs alone. He cited global semiconductor industry uncertainty, questions about AI investment sustainability, and China's competitive advances, combined with South Korea's high concentration in Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. Opposition lawmakers criticized the statement as an attempt to evade responsibility for what they called regulatory mismanagement.
