Strait of Hormuz Transit Traffic Plummets from 51 to 5 in 24 Hours Amid US-Iran Clashes

According to Wenward Maritime Analysis, transit traffic through the Strait of Hormuz plummeted from July 7 to 9 amid escalating US-Iran military exchanges. On July 7, the strait recorded 51 transits with 35 vessels departing the Persian Gulf; this fell to 35 transits and 18 departures on July 8. Between the night of July 8 and early July 9, only 5 transits occurred with just one vessel leaving the Persian Gulf. Shipping operators have begun rerouting vessels to avoid channels near Oman's coast following overnight attacks.
