The income threshold for the top 1% in the U.S. in 2025 has been revealed: an annual salary of $794K qualifies as wealthy.
According to the latest data from the U.S. Social Security Administration, to be among the top 1% of income earners in the United States, you need to make at least $794,000 a year. That translates to a monthly salary of $66,000 and a weekly salary of $15,000 – sounds like a lot, right?
But there is a heart-wrenching piece of data here: this threshold has decreased by 3.3% compared to last year, indicating that the salary growth of the rich is actually slower than that of ordinary people.
Looking down:
• TOP 5% threshold: $352,000/year
• TOP 10% threshold: $148,000/year
In other words, an annual salary of 150,000 USD can easily surpass 90% of American workers.
But the regional differences are enormous. The top 1% in Connecticut earns $1.19 million, while in West Virginia it only takes $435,000—an entire $750,000 difference! Even though they are both in the top 1%, the disparity is just too great.
