Source: TokenPost Original Title: AI employment forecasts missed the mark, IPO predictions hit the target… Silicon Valley tech report card unveiled Original Link: The main technology forecasts for the enterprise IT industry in 2025 have been released. According to the annual assessment by Silicon Valley media outlet theCUBE Research, there are discrepancies in the accuracy of various technology predictions.

Forecast Evaluation Results

AI Employment Impact Prediction (C- Grade)

theCUBE Research predicted that AI would not reduce employment opportunities in 2025, but actual results showed that the unemployment rate among university graduates exceeded the average, bringing AI impact theories back into focus. While companies are fully adopting AI technologies, their attitude toward hiring new employees has become more conservative, reflected in the lower credibility scores.

IPO Market Prediction (A Grade)

The highest rating comes from the prediction of the IPO market. The number of listed companies was sluggish in the first half of the year, but in the second half, as cryptocurrencies and enterprise technology companies reactivated, many unicorns began planning for next year’s IPOs. theCUBE’s prediction was completely accurate.

Technology Investment Spending Growth Prediction (C Grade)

At the beginning of the year, an average IT budget growth of 5.3% was expected, but due to rising interest rates and trade uncertainties, the actual reported figure was only 3-4%. This assessment is based on the actual budget increases of IT decision-makers, rather than purely on data center capital investments.

Cybersecurity Sector (B Grade)

The trend of building unified platforms continues, led by companies like Microsoft, Wiz, and Palo Alto Networks. However, niche areas still have demand for new security tools, and full integration remains challenging.

AI Agent Prediction (A- Grade)

Expectations for fully autonomous AI systems have not yet been realized. The “semi-autonomous” agents represented by Microsoft Copilot series have become mainstream, and concerns over security and data privacy are slowing adoption.

Cloud Computing Migration Trend (B+ Grade)

The migration back to on-premises cloud computing has been more limited than expected. While some companies increased local investments due to hybrid AI configurations, cloud computing still dominates overall workloads.

Edge AI Inference Monetization (C+ Grade)

Massive monetization of AI inference in edge environments is still premature. GPU-based ecosystems are under development, but scaling revenues will take more time.

Public Cloud Market Size (B- Grade)

Total revenue from infrastructure, platform, and software services approaches the $1 trillion mark, but the actual figure is about $980 billion, falling short of the ultimate goal in the short term.

Other Predictions

Predictions such as RPA integrated with AI, changes in data control points, and the spread of open spreadsheet formats partially hit the mark, earning scores between B and C+. Notably, the adoption of Iceberg in data lakehouse environments is eye-catching.

Overall Evaluation

This year’s overall forecast accuracy is rated B-, an upgrade of one grade from last year. theCUBE Research plans to continue releasing new predictions every January, with a focus next year on AI agents, the cloud computing market, and enterprise data strategies, analyzing market realities and technological directions.

The hype about AI unemployment was premature. Now it's time to eat crow. Companies say AI can't replace humans, but then they stop hiring new staff—truly impressive. IPO approvals are happening, but these predictive agencies' selective prophecies are quite something. It's another year of the story "We Were All Fooled." They promised not to lay off staff, so why are they not hiring anymore?

Huh? You dare to make this prediction that AI won't lay off staff? That's hilarious. This prediction is outrageous. Companies say AI empowers them, but then immediately freeze hiring. It's really not unfair to give a C-grade. This batch of graduates is truly miserable.

Will AI take away jobs? Honestly, it depends on what the bosses truly think. AI is hyped up, but recruitment is shrinking... hilarious. If you predict a C- grade, you should reflect. The high unemployment rate among recent graduates is no coincidence. Companies talk about AI but are actually thinking about costs—nothing surprising about that. Predictions from Silicon Valley are just for fun. Can they really be accurate for IPOs? I haven't seen it myself.

AI unemployment forecast was a flop, isn't that pretty funny? Those Silicon Valley folks really dare to boast Companies are all using AI, and newcomers actually have no chance... Quite ironic C-grade haha, prediction ability questionable They did guess the IPO correctly, good for them That college student is really miserable, after all the competition still has no job Is this what they call "technological progress"? Laugh out loud

The AI employment forecast flopped, saying there would be no layoffs, but college student unemployment rates instead skyrocketed. This so-called prophet's level is truly ineffective.
