Market Pitfall Avoidance Guide is here.
This Christmas holiday, major global trading venues are pressing the pause button one after another. Starting from December 25th, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, NYSE, London Stock Exchange, Deutsche Börse, Euronext Paris, Borsa Italiana, Madrid Stock Exchange, Toronto Stock Exchange, Seoul Exchange, NSE India, ASX, and NZX will all be closed for one day; the North and Southbound trading channels of the Hong Kong Stock Connect will also be simultaneously closed. The Taiwan Stock Exchange is also on the holiday closure list.
The futures market is also entering a休整 period—Gold, Silver, Crude Oil, Forex, and Stock Index futures under CME will suspend trading all day, and US Treasury futures are no exception; Intercontinental Exchange's Brent Crude Oil futures contracts trading will also be suspended. This means commodity traders need to plan their positions in advance.
Notably, Bank of Japan Governor Ueda Kazuo will deliver an important speech today, and the Ministry of Commerce will hold its 4th regular press conference of December. In the context of low market liquidity during the holiday, these official statements could become triggers for market movements, so paying attention to related developments is a wise choice.
