Where Is the Next Trading Opportunity?
The new trading week has started with investors focusing on three major markets: Hong Kong's HK50 index, the U.S. technology-driven NAS100, and the EUR/USD currency pair. While overall market sentiment remains constructive, traders are becoming more selective as they wait for several high-impact economic events. The coming sessions could determine whether the current momentum develops into another strong rally or turns into a short-term correction.

NAS100 Trading Between $28,250 and $29,100 Is the Next Breakout Getting Closer?
The NASDAQ 100 (NAS100) is currently trading between $28,250 and $29,100, a range that reflects growing uncertainty after its powerful rally earlier this year. Despite recent volatility, the index continues to hold above a key demand zone, suggesting that institutional investors are still confident in the long-term outlook for technology stocks.
Several factors are driving the current price action. The Federal Reserve's cautious stance on interest rates has kept investors focused on inflation a

The NASDAQ 100 (NAS100) remains one of the most closely watched equity indices in the world because it reflects the performance of the largest technology and growth companies. As of July 23, 2026, the index is trading in the 28,600–29,000 zone after correcting from its record high above 30,600 reached during mid-June. Despite several weeks of heightened volatility, the broader long-term structure remains constructive, while the short-term outlook depends heavily on corporate earnings, Federal Reserve policy, geopolitical developments, and investor confidence in the artificial intelligence investment cycle.
The recent correction has not been driven by a single event but rather by several major macroeconomic and market forces occurring simultaneously. The first catalyst was the June Federal Reserve meeting. Under Chair Kevin Warsh, policymakers kept interest rates unchanged at 3.50%–3.75%, but the updated dot plot revealed that nine out of eighteen committee members expect another rate hike before the end of 2026. The projected year-end median rate increased from 3.4% to 3.8%, sending a clear hawkish message to investors. Higher interest rates generally reduce the present value of future corporate earnings, making high-growth technology companies particularly sensitive because many are investing heavily today for profits expected years into the future.
The second major factor has been geopolitical uncertainty. Escalating tensions between the United States and Iran increased market volatility throughout July. Rising concerns about energy supply disruptions pushed Brent crude oil above $90 per barrel, creating inflation fears and increasing pressure on technology valuations. Historically, periods of geopolitical uncertainty encourage investors to reduce exposure to risk assets while increasing allocations to safer investments such as government bonds and gold. This shift temporarily reduced buying momentum across technology stocks and contributed to broader market weakness.
The third factor has been profit-taking within the semiconductor industry. Semiconductor companies have been among the biggest beneficiaries of the artificial intelligence revolution, delivering extraordinary gains throughout the past year. However, after such a powerful rally, investors began locking in profits, resulting in a weekly decline of approximately 4.4% across major semiconductor stocks. Since chip manufacturers are essential suppliers for AI infrastructure, weakness in this sector naturally spilled over into the broader NASDAQ 100.
Corporate earnings have also influenced investor sentiment. Alphabet reported quarterly revenue of approximately $119.8 billion, exceeding analyst expectations of $116.9 billion.
Despite impressive revenue growth, free cash flow declined dramatically, falling to negative $5.9 billion compared with nearly positive $25 billion one year earlier. Investors interpreted this as evidence that AI infrastructure spending is consuming enormous amounts of capital before generating proportional financial returns, leading Alphabet shares to fall more than 4% after earnings.
Tesla delivered another mixed report. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $0.33, below expectations by approximately $0.18. Revenue growth remained stable, but margins continued to face pressure from intense competition and aggressive investment in artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, robotics, and manufacturing expansion. The stock declined around 3% after the report. Together, these earnings reinforced an important message: investors are no longer rewarding companies simply for spending on AI—they increasingly expect measurable profitability and sustainable cash flow.
Market sentiment remains divided between two competing views.
The bullish camp continues to dominate short-term price action. Every decline toward the 28,500–28,600 support area has attracted aggressive institutional buying. Multiple attempts to break below this zone have failed, indicating that long-term investors still view current prices as attractive. Bulls argue that the recent decline represents a healthy consolidation following one of the strongest rallies in NASDAQ history rather than the beginning of a prolonged bear market. Strong AI demand, resilient corporate earnings, and continued economic expansion remain key pillars supporting this view.
The cautious camp, however, highlights several warning signs. Nearly twenty technology stocks have fallen more than 25% during July alone. The Magnificent Seven continue to represent a significant percentage of the NASDAQ 100, creating concentration risk if any of these companies disappoint. Small-cap stocks, represented by the Russell 2000, have started outperforming large-cap technology companies, suggesting that investors may gradually be rotating capital away from mega-cap AI leaders toward broader market opportunities. Technical indicators also reflect caution, with the daily MACD remaining negative while several moving averages continue flashing mixed signals.
From a technical perspective, 28,500 has become the most important support level in the current market structure. Buyers have repeatedly defended this area, making it the primary line separating bullish continuation from a deeper correction. If this level remains intact, the probability of another advance toward 30,000 increases significantly. Below this support, the next buying zone lies around 28,230–28,260, followed by stronger structural support near 27,800. A decisive breakdown below these levels could expose the market to a correction toward 27,000.
On the upside, immediate resistance remains around 29,200–29,300, where recent rallies have stalled. A successful breakout above this zone could quickly shift momentum toward 29,800–30,000. Beyond that, the previous all-time high around 30,600 represents the next major objective. Breaking above that level would likely require a combination of stronger corporate earnings, easing geopolitical tensions, and improved expectations regarding Federal Reserve policy.
Institutional forecasts remain broadly optimistic despite near-term volatility. TradersUnion projects NAS100 could finish 2026 between approximately 33,077 and 34,427, implying potential upside of around 15%–19% from current levels. LongForecast expects additional weakness during August before projecting a recovery toward approximately 30,440 in September and potentially 33,000–34,000 by year-end. Other institutional analysts believe that if AI investments begin producing stronger earnings growth while inflation continues moderating, the NASDAQ 100 could challenge new record highs before the end of the year.
The options market also suggests relatively balanced expectations. September option positioning centers around the 29,300–29,500 range, indicating traders expect continued consolidation before a clearer directional move develops. Volatility remains relatively contained, with the VIX staying in the mid-teens despite geopolitical uncertainty, reflecting continued confidence among institutional investors that the broader bull market remains intact.
Several catalysts will determine the next major move. Upcoming earnings from Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Meta Platforms, and NVIDIA will provide critical evidence regarding whether massive AI investments are translating into stronger profits. Investors will carefully monitor management guidance, capital expenditure plans, free cash flow generation, and demand for AI infrastructure. Any positive surprises from these companies could quickly restore bullish momentum across the technology sector.
Federal Reserve communication remains equally important. Future speeches from Chair Kevin Warsh, inflation reports, employment data, GDP growth figures, and consumer spending indicators will directly influence expectations for interest rates. Any indication that inflation is cooling faster than expected could reduce expectations for additional tightening and provide strong support for growth stocks.
Geopolitical developments also remain a key variable. Any easing of tensions in the Middle East could reduce oil prices, improve investor confidence, and encourage renewed risk appetite. Conversely, additional escalation or disruption to global energy supplies could temporarily increase volatility across global equity markets.
For traders, risk management remains the highest priority. Conservative investors may prefer waiting for pullbacks toward established support levels before considering new positions, while momentum traders may focus on confirmed breakouts above resistance. Position sizing, disciplined stop-loss placement, and avoiding excessive leverage remain essential because volatility can increase rapidly around earnings announcements and macroeconomic events.
Long-term investors may continue using gradual accumulation strategies during periods of weakness, recognizing that technology, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, and semiconductor industries continue benefiting from powerful structural growth trends expected to extend well beyond 2026. However, maintaining portfolio diversification remains important because market leadership can shift unexpectedly.
Overall, NAS100 remains in a healthy consolidation phase after an extraordinary rally earlier this year. Although higher interest rates, geopolitical uncertainty, and heavy AI spending have temporarily slowed momentum, institutional forecasts continue pointing toward higher prices over the medium to long term. The market is transitioning from rewarding AI narratives to rewarding actual financial performance, making earnings quality more important than ever.
The 28,500 support level remains the most critical technical area to monitor. Holding above this level keeps the bullish structure intact and increases the probability of a move back toward 30,000, followed by 31,000–33,000 during the coming months. A decisive break below support would likely trigger a deeper correction before buyers attempt another advance.
For now, patience, disciplined execution, and careful monitoring of earnings, Federal Reserve policy, and geopolitical developments remain the most effective approach. While short-term volatility is expected to continue, the broader long-term outlook remains constructive as long as economic fundamentals remain resilient and AI-driven earnings continue expanding.@Gate_Square #nas100

I’m watching 29,450–29,500 very closely because buyers defended this region multiple times during recent sessions. If this base keeps holding, momentum could push toward the 29,650 and 29,780 resistance areas next.
What stands out to me right now is how controlled the movement feels. This is not random volatility anymore. Large players seem focused on precise entries around support instead of chasing candles in the middle of expansion.

Personally, I avoid entering after huge breakout candles. I prefer waiting for pullbacks into strong zones where risk stays tighter. Around 29,500, reaction speed plus volume behavior become extremely important.
Current structure I’m tracking:
Support zone: 29,450 — 29,500
Secondary support: 29,300
Resistance area: 29,650 — 29,780
Momentum trigger above: 29,800
If buyers fail to protect 29,450, then fast downside movement could appear toward lower liquidity pockets. But while price remains above this structure, bullish pressure still looks active.
Inside #TradfiTradingChallenge, this type of disciplined level trading matters far more than emotional entries. The traders making the cleanest gains usually wait patiently for price to return into high-probability areas instead of forcing setups.
That shift completely changed my own trading mindset:
Less noise.
Less overtrading.
More focus on structure, timing, plus execution.
And honestly, NAS100 rewards that mindset more than almost any other index right now.
