Don't remind me again today

"I was arrested simply because the Biden administration does not want me to testify in Congress" FTX founder SBF claims political retaliation from jail.

Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), the founder of the once-leading global crypto assets exchange FTX, recently spoke out through the Getter platform, accusing that his arrest in 2022 was not merely a judicial action, but rather a political retaliation led by the Biden administration and Gary Gensler.

SBF was immediately arrested after privately donating to the Republican Party.

“In 2020, my political stance leaned towards the center-left, but by 2022, after seeing Gensler and the Biden Justice Department's attitude towards the encryption industry, I shifted to the center. I privately donated tens of millions of dollars to the Republican Party.” SBF stated that a few weeks after donating to the Republican Party, the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) suddenly initiated criminal charges and arrest actions against him, coinciding with the eve of his upcoming appearance at a U.S. Congressional hearing to promote encryption regulation legislation.

SBF: Arrest time and irregularities, SEC actually claims lost communication records

SBF emphasized that the timing of his arrest was highly unusual, occurring just weeks before Congress planned to discuss the crypto legislation he helped draft, and coinciding with the night before he was set to testify at a hearing. He accused the Biden administration's SEC and DOJ of colluding to silence him by executing a raid-style arrest that kept him out of Congress.

On February 10, 2023, U.S. House Financial Services Committee Chairman Patrick McHenry and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chairman Bill Huizenga jointly sent a letter to SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, requesting the communication records between the SEC, the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the White House. The SEC just so happened to “lose” the records.
