According to Deep Tide TechFlow news on November 5, Decrypt reported that former Australian Rugby League star Trent Merrin was arrested by the police for allegedly stealing approximately $91,000 (140,000 AUD) in Crypto Assets. The police accused Merrin of illegally transferring funds from the crypto account of a 29-year-old man through deceptive means.

On Tuesday morning, police raided the residence of Merlin located in Barrack Point, seizing multiple electronic devices for evidentiary investigation. This arrest was made after a year-long investigation. Merlin has been granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear in Port Kembla Local Court on December 3.

Merlin retired from professional rugby in 2021 after a 15-year career, having represented New South Wales and the Australian national team. After retiring, he actively engaged in business activities in the Crypto Assets, blockchain, and health industries.
